Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre: Studying in India

The Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow invites applications from the citizens of the Russian Federation for pursuing under-graduate/post-graduate courses in Indian systems of Medicine and Homeopathy (Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) in India under the Ayush Scholarship Scheme of the AYUSH Department, Government of India administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations New Delhi for the academic year 2011-12. The salient features of the scholarship scheme are as under –

a) The scholarships are available to pursue under-graduate/post-graduate courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy in the institutions listed at Annexure I. It may be noted that this is an indicative list of institutions and there is a possibility that admission in the institute opted may not be provided. The final decision on selection of institute for a particular student rests with the Ministry of Health.

b) Only a limited number of scholarship slots are available on offer. Therefore, submission of application form does not guarantee grant of scholarship.

c) The concerned institution/university decides on the eligibility of a student to a particular course and the right to acceptance or rejection of any applications vests with them. Therefore, students should ensure that they are eligible for admission to the course which they intend to pursue and note that submission of application form does not guarantee grant of admission.

d) The application form can be downloaded from this link. The guidelines and other details can be also seen at ICCR website www.iccrindia.net. Students are requested to go through the guidelines carefully before filling-up the form. The application form should be accompanied with copies of documents pertaining to educational qualifications alongwith English translation duly notarized. The students are required to submit six sets of application forms (one set alongwith translated and notarized set of documents and five could be copies of the notarized set)

e) The student has to arrange for to and fro air-ticket to avail the scholarship. Airfare will not be provided under any circumstances.

f) Students should note that they will be allowed to return to their country only after completion of their course. In case a student does not complete his course and return to his country before completion of the course, he would be bound to reimburse the expenses incurred by the Government of India on awarding the scholarship to him during the period of his stay in India, e.g. registration/tuition/college fees, stipend, Annual Contingency Allowance, charges for hostel/private accommodation etc. immediately on return from India. Only in emergent circumstances or vacation, a student can visit his country in between his course at his own expenses subject to the permission of his Institute/College, ICCR and after completing other formalities with the concerned Immigration Authorities.

g) As far as possible, Institutes/Colleges provide hostel accommodation and in case the hostel accommodation is not available, they help in finding private accommodation.

h) The students are paid stipend, Annual Contingency Allowance, medical expenses, tuition/other compulsory fees, house rent allowance etc. as per rules and norms of ICCR. The current rate of these allowances can be seen on ICCR website (www.iccrindia.net).

i) The last date of submission of application forms is 25th March, 2011. No application would be accepted thereafter. The candidates living in the region of St. Petersburg and Vladivostok may apply through Indian Consulate there.

j) The Embassy of India/CGI St. Petersburg/CGI Vladivostak reserves its right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
