H.E. Mr. Prabhat Prakash Shukla

Mr. Prabhat Prakash Shukla is Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation since October 2, 2007. Before taking up his current assignment, he was High Commissioner of India to Australia since March 2004. Prior to that, he was High Commissioner of India to Singapore from October 2000 till January 2004.

While serving in Delhi, he was Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (June 1996 - October 2000) and Joint Secretary in charge of the Central Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (March 1994 - June 1996).

He served earlier in different capacities in Indian Missions in


  • Kiev (May 1992 - March 1994),
  • London (August 1989 - April 1992),
  • Moscow (October 1985 - August 1989),
  • Kathmandu (November 1984 - July 1985),
  • Brussels (January 1982 - October 1984),
  • Moscow (September 1977 - July 1980)
  • Sofia (August 1976 - August 1977).

He joined the Indian Foreign Service on July 11, 1974.
He holds a Post Graduate Degree in Economics and knows Russian and French.
Born on March 29, 1951, he is married to Amita and they have a daughter.
