Delhi delights the world with the splendour of its Commonwealth Games opening ceremony
It was Bollywood come to Delhi at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010, and the mix added up to a major triumph. That mix was enriched, of course, with over 4,000 years of Indian history and arts to achieve a stunning tapestry of Indian imagination, skill and expertise. |

The splendours of the ceremonies and the enthusiastic reactions of foreign and Indian observers more than overshadowed any of the glitches the Games organizers had encountered before the official opening of this major athletic event. It was clear even before the ceremony had moved on to its grand finale that 3 October 2010 will go down as a glorious day for both India and its capital city.
The ceremony kicked off at around 7 p.m. and then ran for about another four hours. During those four hours, the ceremony showcased the dazzling journey of India in its long and impressive history. more |

Media ties seen as key bridge in furthering India-Russia relations
A reception for Heads of International Departments and senior journalists of Russian media houses was held on September 29, 2010 at D.P. Dhar hall in the Embassy. Shri Anil Trigunayat, Deputy Chief of Mission, in his welcome address spoke on the various facets of India-Russia relations and stressed the role that the media could play in furthering these relations. |

Indian-Russian defence cooperation strengthened and extended |

Under the framework of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Co-operation (IRIGC-MTC), meetings of the two Working Groups were held in New Delhi on 14-15 September 2009.
(a) The Working Group on Shipbuilding, Aviations and Land Systems was co-chaired by Shri Ajoy Acharya, Special Secretary, Defence Production, Government of India. Mr. I. E. Karavaev, Director Defence Industries Development Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation was the co-chairman from the Russian side. The meeting, held in an atmosphere of mutual cooperation, reviewed the decisions of the three Sub-Groups on Land Systems, Aviation and Shipbuilding held recently and culminated in signing of a protocol for further strengthening the cooperation and resolving issues.
(b) The Working Group on Military Technical Cooperation was headed by Shri S.K. Sharma, Director General (Acquisition), Ministry of Defence from the Indian side and Mr. A.V. Fomin, First Deputy Director, Federal Service on Military Technical Cooperation led the Russian side. The Working Group discussed various issued related to Military Technical Cooperation, ratified the decisions taken by the Sub-Groups and signed a Protocol recording decisions on the issues of mutually beneficial Defence Cooperation. |
