Russia became an ITEC partner country in 1993. Since then, over 700 Russians have availed of ITEC training opportunities in various fields in India. ITEC is of particular interest to Russia because the newly emerging managerial cadres in Russia get an opportunity to interact with centres of managerial training in India, focusing on the challenges of the country’s public and corporate sectors. |

ITEC programmes cover a variety of activities but can be grouped into four broad components: a) Training activities b) Projects and project-related activities such as supply of equipment, feasibility studies and consultancy services c) Deputation of experts to foreign countries and d) Study visits by foreigners to India. |

Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation popularly known as "ITEC" was launched by a decision of the Indian Cabinet on September 15, 1964 as a bilateral programme of assistance of the Government of India. Under it and its corollary SCAAP 156 countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Central & Latin America, Pacific and Small Island countries are invited to share in the Indian Development experience acquired over five decades of our existence as a free nation. India spends about Rs.500 million annually on ITEC activities.
