JAWAHARLAL NEHRU AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION S. RADDY & R.K.TIWARI (EDITORS)
The Indian Institute of Public Administration is completing 50 years of its establishment on 29 March 2004, The Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee of the Institute, decided to bring out a publication which will serve as a basic text on the theme, Jawaharlal Nehru and Public Administration, a tribute to the memory of Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India and Founder President of the Institute (1954-1964).
This book contains the presidential addresses of Jawaharlal Nehru in the Annual General Body Meetings of the Institute from 1954 to 1963. It also contains some of In- significant speeches of Jawaharlal Nehru in the Constituent Assembly and Parliament as well as public addresses on the theme of democracy, development and public administration. It also includes Measures for Strengthening of Administration which he placed before the Parliament during 1961. In these addresses and speeches one will find his valuable opinions on public administration and democracy, public administration and planning, administrative procedures, civil service, democratic decentralisation, planning and plan implementation, public sector and research in public administration, and an agenda for the intellectual concerns of the Institute.
This book also includes selected papers from the three seminars organized by the Institute on the theme of Jawaharlal Nehru and Public Administration. Besides, this book also incorporates selected articles from the Indian Journal of Public Administration dealing with Jawaharlal Nehru's views on public administration as well as planning and science.
