Commerce and Industry Minister of India H.E. Mr Anand Sharma leads an official delegation to SPIEF, St Petersburg, 19-22.6.2013

Commerce and Industry Minister of India H.E. Mr. Anand Sharma led an official delegation to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2013 from 19-22 June, 2013.

The 4th India-Russia Business Dialogue was organized in the framework of SPIEF 2013 which was co-chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister of India H.E. Mr. Anand Sharma and the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Denis Manturov. The Business Dialogue was attended by many prominent Indian as well as Russian companies. Both Ministers expressed satisfaction in the progress of our bilateral trade and economic relations. Presentation on Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor was also made, highlighting the opportunities available for Russian companies in the infrastructure sector and stress placed on Russian companies availing of the vast opportunities available in infrastructure as well as in other identified areas. Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma in his address mentioned that there is significant potential for cooperation in areas such as infrastructure development, aviation, power generation, energy, information technology, bio and nano technologies, fertilizer, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, etc.

On the sidelines of SPIEF 2013, Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma had useful meetings with Chairman, Eurasian Economic Commission H.E. Mr. Viktor Khristenko, and discussed the issue of a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement between India and the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma also participated in a panel discussion, in the framework of SPIEF 2013, “BRICS Partnership – The Potential and Limitations in Global Stewardship”.

Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma also addressed the India-Russia CEOs Council and stressed to the co-chairs of the Council and to the captains of the Indian and Russian industries to take advantage of the potentials available in India as well as in the Russian market.
