Skolkovo Foundation presented @ Indian Embassy Moscow, 24 April 2013

As follow-up to the meeting last month between H.E. Mr. Ajai Malhotra, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation and Mr. Viktor Vekselberg, President of Skolkovo Foundation, the Indian Embassy organized a presentation on the Skolkovo Foundation at its premises on April 24, 2013.

Mr. Conor Lenihan, Vice-President of Skolkovo Foundation led a team of Skolkovo Executives which made various presentations on the strengths of the Skolkovo Foundation as a global business and innovation hub and its role in providing an enabling environment for high-tech research and development. The presentations covered areas such as Bio-medical Technology; Space and Telecommunications; Information Technology; Energy Efficiency; and Techno-parks. The event was attended by interested representatives of Indian business presently working in Russia.

Inaugurating the event, Ambassador Malhotra welcomed the Skolkovo team and the Indian businessmen. He thanked Mr. Lenihan for Skolkovo Foundation's keen interest and sincere endeavours to explore prospects of economic cooperation with Indian companies. Ambassador Malhotra highlighted that development of IT was one of the strategic sectors identified for Russia's economic modernization and also a focus area at the Skolkovo Innovation Centre. Given India's IT and biotechnology capabilities, there was considerable scope for both countries to cooperate in these two areas to mutual benefit. Ambassador Malhotra also expressed satisfaction at the positive growth trends in India-Russia bilateral trade and investment as well as the huge increase in tourist and business travel from Russia to India following the liberalized visa regime effected in June 2011, and especially in 2013.

Presentations were also made by Indian companies such as L&T and Infosys as well as representatives of the Ekaterinburg based Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Plant of Renova Group of Companies. The event provided a valuable opportunity for useful interaction between Indian and Russian business to consider joint business ventures and other mutual investment options.

Any Indian company wishing to obtain the presentations made by the Skolkovo Foundation or others at this event, may email Shri Dilbagh Singh, First Secretary (Economic & Commerce), Embassy of India, Moscow, at Этот адрес электронной почты защищен от спам-ботов.
