Remarks of HE Mr. Ajai Malhotra, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, on the launch on 25.3.2013 of TV Serial “Kabhie Kabhie” on Russia’s “India TV” channel.

It gives me great pleasure to launch today the popular Indian TV serial “Kabhie Kabhie”, on Russia’s “India TV” channel. The serial has been produced by ZEE TV India and offers a collection of short stories by famous Indian authors.

Given its popularity, we have taken the initiative to show “Kabhie Kabhie” in Russia, a country where there has traditionally been deep interest in Indian films and TV. The serial has been professionally dubbed in Russian. Different aspects of human relationships are depicted in its 69 episodes by way of short stories (presented in 3 or 4 episodes each) that are positive and incorporate a strong curiosity element.

There has recently been a remarkable expansion in our bilateral engagement with Russia, with people-to-people linkages, trade and tourism, growing at a good pace. We hope the screening of this Indian TV serial will help further strengthen the close bonds of friendship and goodwill that exist between India and Russia.

I thank the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, for providing this serial. I would also like to thank “India TV” for showing it on prime-time, at 9 pm, five times a week, starting 25th of March.

I have no doubt that “Kabhie Kabhie” would prove to be extremely popular with our Russian friends. I wish you happy viewing!
