Late Tatyana Elizarenkova remembered in Moscow, 5 March 2014
The Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India, Moscow, in association with “Society for Cultural and Business Cooperation with India” of Russia organized a commemorative event in memory of renowned Indologist Late Tatyana Elizarenkova and a painting exhibition “India – A Great History and Today” by Ms. Olga Lisenkova, at D.P. Dhar Hall of the Embassy on 5 March 2014. Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. P.S. Raghavan was the guest of honor on the occasion. Other prominent guest included President of Society for Cultural and Business Cooperation with India Mr. Alexander Senkevich, Co- President of the Society Mr. Vladimir Akinfiev, Director of the Institute of Higher Research in Humanities (Russian State University for Humanities) Dr. Sergey Serebriany, Head of Indian Philology Department of the Institute of Asian and African Countries (Moscow State University Dr. Boris Zakharyn), Head of Oriental Philosophy Department of the Institute of Philosophy (Russian Academy of Sciences) Dr. Viktoria Lysenko who shared their experiences with Late Elizarenkova.
In his remarks, Ambassador Raghavan noted the contribution of Late Tatyana Elizarenkova to Vedic/ Sanskrit Studies in Russia and especially her monumental works of Russian translation of ‘Rig Veda’ and ‘ Atharva Veda’, which the Government of India had recognized with “Padma Shree” award in 2004.
