“Tank Biathlon 2014" at Alabino Ranges (Russia), 4-16 August 2014
4 Indian tank crews are participating in an international championship ‘Tank Biathlon 2014’ at the Alabino Ranges, Moscow Region (about 60 km from Moscow) from 04 -16 August 2014.The Championship was flagged off on 4 August 2014 by the Russian Defence Minister Mr. Sergeu Shoigu.
The Championship involves 4 tank crews from 12 countries viz. Angola, Armenia, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia and Venezuela. All international participants in the Championship have been provided with Russia's T-72B tanks while China is participating with its own T-96A tanks.
The competition tests driving and firing skills, when the tank negotiates obstacles and engages targets depicting enemy tanks, helicopters and an anti tank weapons. During the competition, 36 international tank crews will compete in various stages. Top 4 teams will participate in the finals scheduled for 16 August 2014.
