Presentation by the Kursk region

The Embassy of India in collaboration with the Government of Kursk region organized a presentation on February 18, 2015 at the Indian Embassy on opportunities for economic, commercial, cultural, educational and scientific cooperation between the Kursk Region and India. H E Mr Alexander Mikhailov, the Governor of Kursk Region along with a high-level delegation comprising senior officials, academicians, and members of the leading business groups from Kursk region participated in the event.

During the meeting of the Governor with Ambassador P S Raghavan, both sides highlighted the long-standing and extensive cooperation between the two regions in the field of culture, educational and scientific spheres and underlined the need to further intensify the cooperation in the economic and trade sector, which has considerable untapped potential. Ambassador emphasized the need for closer cooperation between the federal regions in Russia and the various states in India, while highlighting it as a priority identified by the highest leadership from both the countries. The two sides decided to explore the possibility of closer cooperation between Kursk region and the State of Bihar.

From the Kursk region, presentations were made by various organizations such as Kursk Chamber of Commerce, Investment Promotion Agency of the Kursk region, Kursk State Medical University, the Southwestern University and the Committee of Youth Affairs. In addition, business presentations were made by JSC Vagonmash, Korenev, Clusrerkursk, Kursktrikotag and NPO Composite. The Indian side also made presentations which included Technostar, Lohia Group, Grover International and Commercial Indo Bank.

An MoU was signed between the Indian Business Alliance and the Kursk Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
