Prime Minister of India and six Russian diplomats engaged in yoga on an equal footing with all other
The International Day of Yoga, celebrated for the first time, was marked by mass execution of exercises in India, with millions of citizens participated. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have attended the nationwide event and was practicing yoga on the main avenue in Delhi for 35 minutes together with 37 thousands of civil servants, military personnel, athletes, students, representatives of public organizations. Futhermore, 152 diplomatic missions, including six Russian diplomats, also joined this event, TASS reported.
“At the same time, with us, millions of people from all parts of India are performing a simple set of movements, carrying the spirit of harmony and health to the body”, said Narendra Modi who starts his every day with yoga.
As the Ministry of AYUSH Government of India stated, the organizers submitted an application to the Guinness Book of Records – today they were able to break the world record for number of people simultaneously engaged in yoga on the same site in the open air.
Earlier the similar session in Gwalior on November 19, 2005 was attended by about 30 thousand people.
