Reinforcing cooperation with Novosibirsk region

At the invitation of the Governor of Novosibirsk, the Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, P.S. Raghavan, visited Novosibirsk on May 21-22, 2015. He was accompanied by Embassy officials and representatives from the Indian business Community in Moscow.

The delegation was warmly received by the regional authorities and businesses. At the meeting with H.E. Mr. Vladimir Gorodetsky, Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, the two sides highlighted the existing enormous potential to intensify bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism and cultural fields. There is already vibrant cooperation between the research and academic institutes of Siberia and India; new joint research and exchange programmes were discovered.

A wide range of areas for mutual cooperation were discussed by the delegation with H.E. Mr. Vladimir Znatkov, Deputy Governor of Novosibirsk and regional Ministers of Economic Development; Industry and Trade; Culture and Tourism; and Education. Indian businesspersons communicated their interests in the region which were positively noted by the regional government.

The delegation met the Mayor of Novosibirsk city, Mr. Anatoly Lokt, and discussed plans for future cooperation with the city including a fitting celebration of the 1st International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2015.

The delegation visited Nevz Ceramics company which develops and manufactures nano-structured ceramics for traumatology & orthopedics, power industry, radio-electronics, machine engineering, chemical and petroleum industries.

The Ambassador addressed students of the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management on India – Russia Relations.

At a meeting with the representatives of local cultural & yoga centres, the delegation discussed their activities and invited their active participation in organization of the first International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2015 in Novosibirsk.

On May 21 Mrs. Barbara Raghavan, President of Indian Women's Association donated Rubles 100,000 to Orphanage No. 2, Novosibirsk, as a contribution to the work being done by the orphanage. Mrs. Barbara Raghavan met the Director of the orphanage and saw the facilities of the organization.

The reception hosted by Ambassador and Mrs. Barbara Raghavan was attended by the Governor and regional Ministers alongwith prominent academicians, businesspersons and socio-cultural personalities. A group from BHARATA cultural centre performed traditional, Bollywood and folk dances at the reception.
