Visit of Indian Delegation to World Food Moscow, 15 -18 September 2014
An Indian delegation led by Dr. Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Chairman, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) comprising officials from the Export Inspection Council (EIC) and Marine Products Export Development authority (MPEDA) and over 30 representatives from India Agriculture and Food Processing Industry participated in the World Food Moscow Trade Fair held in Moscow from 15-18 September 2014. Indian enterprises that participated in the event represented such sectors as meat, poultry and egg products, spices, cereals, frozen and processed food, and plantation sector including tea and coffee.
During the visit, the delegation met Mr. Sergey Dankvert, Head of the federal Service of Veterinary and Phytosanitary Survellianc (Rosselkhoznadzor), Ms Anna Popova, Head of the federal service for Protection of consumer Rights and human wellbeing (Rospotrepnadzor), and with Mr. Vladmir Goshin, Minister (Customs) in the Eurasian Economic Commission. The Indian side shared India’s export certification procedure and regulatory framework for agricultural and food products with the Russian authorities. The two sides agreed that there are exciting opportunities for expanding trade and economic cooperation in agro products and food processing industry to mutual benefit.
On 16 September, a business meeting was also organized in the Embassy of India, which was attended by around 40 Indian and Russian businessmen. Mr. Sandeep Arya, Charge d’ Affaires, Embassy o India, Moscow, Chairman, APEDA and Director, Export Inspection Council addressed the gathering and informed them about the regulatory framework, certification procedure and business opportunities in agriculture and food processing industry. The businesses also interacted among themselves to identify opportunities for trade in agricultural and food products.
