Young Indian mountaineers scale Mt. Elbrus (Southwestern Russia), 24 July 2014

On 24 July 2014, a 4 member Indian team of mountaineers led by Ms. Arunima Sinha scaled Mt. Elbrus (Southwestern Russia), Europe’s highest mountain peak (5672 m). Arunima Sinha acquired international recognition in May 2013, when she became the first woman amputee in the world to climb Mt. Everest. After conquering Mt. Everest, she went on to scale Mt. Arunima Sinha was accompanied by her Manager Om Prakash, Akriti Heer (20 years) – probably the youngest Indian to conquer Mt. Elbrus and Saachi Soni a final year undergraduate student from IP College of Delhi University. The team visited the Embassy of India Moscow on 26 July 2014 before returning to India.
