CONNECT 2009

Confederation of Indian Industry and Government of Tamil Nadu in association with the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India is organizing CONNECT 2009, the 9th edition of India’s premier ICT Event during 11 - 13 September 2009 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai.

CONNECT has been the forum for Indian ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Industry to confer on latest Trends & Developments. The event in the past has seen industry leaders and policy makers come together and exchange insights and views on accelerating the growth and sustainability of the Indian ICT Sector.

Connect has been the key vehicle of Tamil Nadu Government to showcase its considerable achievement in attracting ICT businesses to Tamil Nadu. It has also been an important forum for the government to gather inputs from industry and thought leaders to formulate policies which will make Tamil Nadu an undisputed leader in this area. As an example, Connect led to ICT Academy -a key public private partnership initiative.

Currently, due to the global economic slowdown, the export oriented IT industry is facing difficulties. This needs to be overcome through focusing on new Business Models, improvement in competency development processes, innovation etc. Therefore, the theme of CONNECT 2009 is "Resurgence of the Indian ICT Sector".

Connect 2009 will feature a 2-Day Conference and 3-Day Exhibition.

The Conference will focus on the following topics:

  • Re-inventing Indian ICT for the new world order
  • Leveraging intrinsic strengths of ICT for refueling growth
  • Building India’s Digital Infrastructure for competitive positioning
  • Rural India – tapping the latent potential
  • Greener IT, Cleaner IT

Connect attracts international participation. The Exhibition ‘Taitronics India 2009’ is being organized concurrently with Connect 2009 by Taiwan World Trade Centre and will showcase Electric Components, Photovoltaic (PV) Products, Auto & Motorcycle Parts, Consumer Electronics, Security & Safety Products, Electric Appliance & Machinery, and Hardware & Hand Tools etc.

INDIA ELECTRICITY 2009

FICCI and the Ministry of Power (MoP), Govt. of India, organized the annual international exhibition-cum-conference, India Electricity -2008 during September 11-13, 2008 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This was the third edition of the comprehensive event on Indian Power Sector and follows the great success of this event in 2007.

Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Hon'ble Union Minister for Power, inaugurated the Conference & Exhibition. Over 100 dignitaries, chairpersons and speakers representing policymakers from central and state ministries, senior officials from power generation, transmission and distribution utilities, electricity regulators, power traders, equipment suppliers, consultants, etc. addressed the conference over the three days. More than 500 delegates attended the conference engaging into interactive exchange of relevant information, workable ideas and innovative solutions in the power sector. Two special state focus sessions showcased opportunities and success stories in the states of Haryana, and Tamil Nadu.

The exhibition received an overwhelming response with participation of over 150 companies representing all business segments of the power sector over a net area 3,500 sqr. mtrs. Individual country participation was received from Japan, China, France, Germany, Bulgeria, The Nertherlands, USA and 8813 business visitors, with 876 overseas visitors from 18 countries (Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Korea, Nepal, Nigeira, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA) came to visit the exhibition.
