Gujarat holds a strategic position in the Indian power industry. It has been ranked 2nd in the power sector rating (2005) of CRISIL-ICRA submitted to the Ministry of Power , India.
Gujarat the first state in the country to announce such an independent policy at Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit which aims to promote solar generation, transforming the state into an "Integrated Solar Generation Hub" of the country.
Wind energy is the fastest growing source of commercial energy in the world. And India, surprisingly enough, emerged as world's 5th largest wind energy producer. India is the only country in the world that has an exclusive Ministry, which deals with new and renewable energy sources.
