The 9th edition of auto show generates business worth Rs 20,000 crore along with about 1.8 million visitors New Delhi: January 17, 2008: The 9th Auto Expo 2008, which began on January 10, concluded on Friday with a joint address by industry bodies and organisers CII, ACMA and SIAM, indicating a business generation of over Rs 20,000 crore in the past eight days.

''The Auto Expo 2008 was the biggest ever in terms of size, number of participants, visitors turn-out and business'' said Mr Gurpal Singh, CII Deputy Director General. Sharing the highlights of the 9th edition of auto show, Mr Singh pointed out that while the exact numbers are being studied, preliminary estimates indicate that the auto carnival attracted about 1.8 million visitors and generated business worth about Rs 20,000 crore at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Notably, the Auto Expo 2006 attarcted about 1 million visitors and yielded business worth Rs 540 crore. Of 1,200 exhibitors surveyed, he said, 50 per cent of them admitted that they have generated business during the Auto Expo 2008.
