Deputy Chief of Mission

Mr. Sandeep Arya joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994. His first assignment abroad was at the Embassy of India, Moscow where he handled political work. He subsequently served at the Ministry of External Affairs in the External Publicity Division. He later served as First Secretary in Embassy of India Kyiv from 2001-03, and at The Hague from 2003-2006. He was Director in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi handling work related to Russia and Eurasian region from 2007-2008 and later disarmament and non-proliferation from 2009-2012.

Mr. Arya has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Technology degree in Nuclear Technology. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics and Master of Business Administration. He speaks fluently Hindi, English and Russian. He is married and has two sons.
