Shri P T Narendran, a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer from India was invited to visit Moscow during 2-14 May, 2010 by the Nritya Sabha Foundation with the support of the JNCC. The workshops by Shri P T Narendran organized at JNCC were attended by 45 participants from various cities of Russia including from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don and Nizhniy Novgorod.
A Lecture-Demonstration by Shri P T Narendran was organized by JNCC on 13 May at the D.P. Dhar Hall of the Embassy. Ambassador of India inaugurated the evening by lighting the ceremonial lamp. During the programme, the artist demonstrated the fundamental mudras of both Bharatanatyam and Kathakali. He enacted stories and depicted emotions to provide a comparative perspective to the audience. He also fielded questions by the audience. Interpretation during the programme was provided by Ms. Tatiana Nazarova, JNCC’s local Kahtak teacher and member of the Nritya Sabha Foundation. The programme was followed by a reception. More than 120 people attended the programme.
