“Cultural Heritage of the Himalayas”, an NGO organized a festival of oriental cultures “Orientalia” in the Fersikovsky Region and the Museum of Cosmonauts at Kaluga during 28 May to 6 June, 2010 with the support of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Kaluzhskaya Oblast. The JNCC presented a day-long cultural programme at the Festival on 30 May featuring performances by JNCC students and teachers. The JNCC India-based teachers, Shri Radhesham Sharma (Tabla), Shri Raghav Raj Bhatt (Kathak), Dr. N Suresh Babu (Yoga) and their students participated in the event along with JNCC local Russian teachers, Mr. Dmitry Zmeev (Bharatanatyam), Ms. Tatiana Nazarova (Kathak), Ms. Irina Iskorostenskaia (Bharatanatyam), Ms. Vitalina Laboch (Odissi), Ms. Ekatrina Seliverstova (Kathak), Ms. Nadejda Kovriga (Bharatanatyam), Mr. Ashwini Nigam (Kathak) and Mr. Alexyi Neumoin (Kalaripayat) and their students, who presented 11 performances during the Festival. About 45 JNCC teachers and students participated in the Festival. The India Day of the Festival was attended by about 500 people. |
