Celebration of 149th Tagore Jayanti at Secondary Specialized English School No. 1279 of Moscow

As an annual feature, the Secondary Specialized English School 1279, Moscow celebrated the 149th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at its premises on 20 May.  The programme began with paying tributes to Gurudev by offering flowers on his portrait.  While addressing the audience, the Principal of the School, Ms. Raissa Anisimova spoke extensively regarding the contribution of Tagore to the society and also thanked Embassy of India and Embassy of India School for participation in the event.  On behalf of the Embassy of India, Shri Sanjay Vedi, Deputy Director, JNCC attended the event.  In his speech, he congratulated the school for successful organization of Tagore Jayanti every year and invited them to participate in the next year’s special celebrations being planned for the 150th birth anniversary of Tagore.  The programme featured performances by the school children of School No. 1279 as also of the Embassy of India School.  After the cultural presentations, guests were invited to the exhibition hall to see the School’s collection related to Tagore and India.  The programme ended with a reception hosted by the School.
