15th Meeting of the Joint Working Group on Tourism & Culture

The 15th meeting of the India-Russia Joint Working Group on Tourism & Culture was held at Moscow on 14 May.  The Indian delegation was led by Shri N C Goel, Joint Secretary Ministry of Culture and comprised of Shri Umesh Kumar, Director, Ministry of Culture, Shri Manish Prabhat, Counsellor (HoC) & Director, JNCC, Embassy of India, Shri M.N. Javed, Regional Director, India Tourism, Frankfurt, Shri Sham Lal, Under Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Shri Sanjay Vedi, Deputy Director, JNCC, Embassy of India.  The Russian delegation was led by Mr. Alexander Golutva, Deputy Minister of Culture.  Implementation of the bilateral Cultural Exchange Programme 2010-2012 as well as the ways to expand the scope of CEP by covering areas such as mass media, youth affairs, education etc. were discussed.  The Indian side also informed the Russian side about the grand celebrations planned in India and abroad by the Government of India to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in 2011 and invited Russian participation in the celebrations.  At the conclusion of the meeting, Protocol of the meeting was signed by both sides.  Mr. Golutva hosted a lunch in honour of the Indian delegation.
