India participated at the II Moscow International Biennale for Young Art - "Qui Vive?" held in Moscow during 4-25 July, 2010. The Biennale is a prestigious art event of Moscow organized at many museums all over the city. Supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Moscow City Department of Culture, over 40 projects from international artistes were presented during the Biennale. The event provided a platform to also present Indian contemporary art and artistes in Russia. The Indian section in the Biennale was sponsored by ICCR. India – Russia Defense Meet Held
Seventeenth session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee (IRIGC) Sub-Group on Land Systems was concluded on July 02nd 2010 which was
held at Tula, Russia from June 28-July 02, 2010. Various issues of mutual
interest for the ongoing defense projects as well as new areas of co-operation for future were discussed during the meeting.

Diamond cooperation meet held
A Government of India delegation led by Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce Dr. Shyam Agarwal and CMD, Hindustan Diamond Company Pvt Ltd. Smt. Alka Tyagi, visited Russia on 12 – 13 July to discuss prospects for enhanced cooperation between Russian and Indian companies in the area of trade in rough diamonds. |
G.V. Kalamanov visits India
A delegation led by Russian Deputy Minister of Industry & Trade G.V. Kalamanov visited India on 21 July to participate at the meeting organized by Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion in regard to the India-Russia joint venture on titanium products. Mr. Kalamanov also met Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals Mr. Ashok Kumar,to discuss various issues concerning bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical sectors. |
Katkatha Puppet Art Trust, New Delhi performs in Russia

An 8-member puppet group of Katkatha Puppet Art Trust, New Delhi visited Russia during 3-20 July, 2010 and performed at various Russian cities viz., Abakan (Republic of Khakhasia), Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan), Ufa, (Republic of Bashkortostan), and Ekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk Region). At Abakan, Khakasia, the group participated in the International Ecological Festival “Chir Chayan” held in Region on 3-10 July and presented their production “The Little Blue Planet” which was specially produced for this Festival. more |
Second Advaita Vedanta Congress
On the occasion of the 2nd Advaita Vedanta Congress held by the International Society of Laya Yoga, JNCC presented cultural programmes on 14-16 July, 2010. The students of Ms. Vitalina Laboch (Odissi Teacher), Shri Raghav Raj Bhatt (Kathak Teacher) and Ms. Irina Iskorostenskaia (Bharatanatyam Teacher) performed at the Opening Ceremony. On 15 July, Mr. Alexyi Neumoin, Kalaripayat Teacher and his students presented their programme. Master Classes by Dr. N. Suresh Babu, Yoga Teacher (15 and 16 July) Shri Raghav Raj Bhatt, Kathak Teacher (16 July), Shri Radhesham Sharma, Tabla Teacher (16 July), Ms. Irina Iskorostenskaia, Bharatanatyam Teacher (18 July) were also organized.more |
Odissi Dance Master Classes held at JNCC

Leading Odissi Dance exponent Ms. Sujata Mohapatra visited Moscow on 15-27 July, 2010 during which she conducted Odissi Dance Master Classes at JNCC. She also performed at the ‘Modern Theatre’ in Moscow on 21 July, where “Odissi Jivan Nritya”, the dance group led by Ms. Vitalina Laboch also presented its performance. Shri P.P. Shukla, Ambassador of India, graced the occasion. This was Ms. Mohapatra’s second series of Master Classes held at JNCC. Earlier, these were also held in 2008. The daughter-in-law and disciple of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Ms. Mohapatra runs her own Odissi institution ‘Srjan’ at Bhubaneshwar.

DPS students visit Moscow for international camp
Nine students of the Delhi Public School, Dwarka, New Delhi led by their teacher Ms. Monika Raj Sharma participated at the International Summer School Camp for Russian Language organized by the Moscow Government at Solnechnigorsk, 50 kms outside Moscow. Children from CIS, Baltic States as well as from Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Korea, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Syria, Slovakia, the USA, Turkey, Finland, France, Czech Republic and Sweden also participated in the camp. Prof. S.K. Pandey, JNCC Hindi Professor attended the inauguration of the camp on behalf of the Embassy of India.
The children from India presented a cultural programme at the inaugural ceremony. The DPS children called on Shri P.P. Shukla, Ambassador of India on 23 July. After their interaction with Ambassador, the children visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre. A workshop for them was organized in the Hindi Room of the JNCC. The children interacted with the Russian students of JNCC of various disciplines and also presented a dance programme in the Dance Room of the JNCC for the Russian members of the JNCC. |
