At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Islam Karimov, the Prime Minister of India H.E. Dr. Manmohan Singh, paid an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan on 25-26 April 2006.

2. The Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh held discussions with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Islam Karimov. The talks were held in an atmosphere of friendship and trust.

India signed the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism, 2005 on 24th July 2006 at the UN Headquarters in New York.

2. This Convention, initially proposed by the Russian Federation, was adopted by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on 13/4/05 by a consensus resolution and was opened for signature at the UN Headquarters from 14th September 2005.
