Celebrations of 68th anniversary of Independence Day

Embassy of India Moscow On the 68th anniversary of India’s Independence, the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Embassy of India, Moscow was attended by over 500 Indian citizens, People of Indian Origin and friends of India. Ambassador P.S. Raghavan hoisted the flag and, after the National Anthem, read out the Address to the Nation of the President of India on the eve of Independence Day. He then briefly addressed the gathering, congratulating the members of the Indian community in Russia and thanking the many Russian friends present, as well as those who had conveyed good wishes on India's Independence Day. Ambassador Raghavan informed the gathering of recent developments in the India-Russia engagement, including the visits of the President of India to Moscow in May 2015 and of Prime Minister of India to the BRICS and SCO Summits in Ufa in July 2015; and recent progress in India-Russia cooperation in trade & investment, energy, defence, education, S&T and space. He also drew attention to the ongoing Year of Indian Culture in Russia, which includes Indian cultural events all over the country through the year. Children of the Embassy of India School gave a melodious rendering of patriotic songs on the occasion.
